The Answer:
B. Beans

Your Answers:
A. Oatmeal - 26%
B. Beans - 49%
C. Kale - 20%
D. Shrimp - 3%

The Answer: Beans!
Last week, Dr. Oz talked about Fast Fat Burners on the 4/26/12 episode. As part of his 7 Day Fat Burning Formula to Burn Belly Fat, Dr. Oz recommended eating one cup of beans at every meal. Beans are filled with fiber and protein that are slow to digest and will help you feel full for longer.

It's a smart choice but I think I would be really sick of beans after eating 21 times in a row for a week. This task requires a whole bunch of variety.

For breakfast, Dr. Oz shared a recipe for Fat-Burning Chickpea Muffin:
1 can or 2 cups boiled chickpeas
2 grated carrots
2 tsp nutritional yeast
2 tsp poppy seeds
1 tsp olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste

In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients, except the poppy seeds, until you get a doughy consistency. Evenly drop spoonfuls of dough into muffin pan. Top with poppy seeds and bake for 30 minutes at 350°F.

As part of the belly burning plan, Dr. Oz recommends taking the a GLA supplement. GLA, says Dr. Oz, sends calming signals to those fat stores in the belly causing the body to release the fat. He recommends taking 1,000mg of GLA before each and every meal for one week. To that, include one cup of beans with every meal for seven days.

Oatmeal
Oatmeal is full of fiber and it's a whole grain so it can be a part of a weight loss program. I wouldn't want to eat it three times a day for a week. Oatmeal with berries for breakfast sounds great.

Kale
Kale is fabulous. I love kale. Kale is full of nutrients and just tastes wonderful, in my opinion. While you could certainly eat kale three times a day for a week if you wanted you may get a little tired of it. Kale for breakfast could be the most challenging meal to incorporate. Smoothies area a great way to incorporate greens especially if you don't like the taste of them on their own.

I like kale with fried eggs, a friend of mine suggested this to me and I love her all the more for it. I chop up two leaves of kale, minus the stem, and saute them for a minute then crack my two eggs over top and cook until the yolk is gooey – not quite runny and not yellow powder. I've even added a chopped mushroom and garlic to the kale which also makes for a satisfying morning meal.

Shrimp
Shrimp is a great source of protein and healthy fats but I wouldn't want to see the bill for 21 meals worth of shrimp. Maybe shrimp could be a once a week meal or a couple times a month meal. I look for good sales on shrimp and keep it in my freezer until needed.
